Pappilanniemi is a peninsula near the centre of Lappeenranta with lush vegetation and rocky shores. Its vegetation is exceptionally lush since lowering water levels during the local ice lake stages did not wash away the fine material deposits in the area. The peninsula is lined by expansive mica gneiss rôche moutonnées lapped by Lake Saimaa, and their surface features show signs of both glacial erosion and inclusions formed during the rocks’ formation stage. A nature path winds around the peninsula.
